Louis M. Grasek
Charleston -- Louis M. Grasek, Sr., 76, of State Highway 30A
passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at his home with his family.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Grasek lived in the Town of Charleston for the past
16 years. He was a graduate of Queens Vocational High School and was employed
by New York City Transit Authority, retiring in 1985.
Mr. Grasek was a U.S. Navy Veteran, during WWII serving on the U.S.S. Reeves,
and during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Cecil.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 701 of Amsterdam, Capital District
Destroyer Escort Sailors' Association, 40 + 8 of Amsterdam, New York State
Legion Press Associates, a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church where he served
as an usher and Eucharistic minister, Duanesburg Senior Citizens, Charleston
Historical Society, Charleston Senior Citizens, Town of Charleston Planning
Board, and attended the Delanson Senior Mealsite.
Mr. Grasek is survived by his wife, Margaret Bettinger Grasek, whom he married
September 11, 1948; two sons, Louis M. Grasek, Jr. of Delanson, and Thomas Grasek
of Romulus; three daughters, Susan Traficenti of Shepard, MI, Margaret Major of
Paramus, NJ and Mary Burns of LaGrange, NY; one sister, Pauline Baumann of Brooklyn;
ten grandsons and four granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Delanson. Relatives and friends
are invited to call at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home, 1779 Main Street, Delanson,
Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at Saratoga National Cemetery.
